Job Description

Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is offering Summer Internship opportunities for our Development & Marketing Department! We are searching for college and/or university students who are committed to making a positive impact, while learning, and helping make a change in our shared community.

The ideal candidate is a creative, passionate individual with an interest in our mission and the desire to gain experience in non-profit development and fundraising, marketing, logistics, social media, community relations, grant writing support, social work, web and social media analytics, donor engagement and other related areas.


The primary responsibilities of the intern will be but are not limited to:

• Build database reports, especially to reconnect with lapsed donors.
• Track and analyze web and social media trends, new web analytics.
• Assist with acknowledgement letter process.
• Research and report Google Analytics.
• Participate in grant research and completion with guidance.
• Recruit and help manage volunteers.
• Research company/organization information for prospects.
• Create marketing materials of programs for event use.


• Strong communication skills, written and verbal as well as attention to detail.
• Capacity for critical thinking and problem solving.
• Knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
• Familiarity with digital marketing tools and analytics.
• Ability to work independently and as a team.
• Excellent organizational skills and time management, meets deadlines.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office suite, Canva.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license.
• Occasional lifting, carrying, 20 lbs. and traveling to other office locations.
