Director of Development and Marketing Full-Time (40 Hours per Week)
Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is seeking a Director of Development and Marketing to lead the
Development Department in overall development operation and manage fundraising activities for the
agency. Should have the ability to understand, promote, fund-raise, and advocate for a faith-based nonprofit organization.
A qualified candidate must have a four-year degree in communications, public relations, or journalism and 5
years related experience preferred. Training or equivalent combination of education and experience may be
considered. Must have the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences. The Development
Director works with a team to to retain and significantly expand philanthropic support for CCEVA. This team
includes the CEO, the Development Committee, the Executive Board, the General Board of Directors, and
the CCEVA Foundation Board. In addition the Development Director will oversee a staff of two (Grants
Manager/writer and a Development Associate). You should be familiar with the Neighborhood Assistance
Program(NAP) and Designation as a Certified fundraising Executive (CFRE) preferred but not required.
In this role you will manage the day to day operations of the Development Department and supervise staff
and department volunteers. You will organize, plan, and develop Special Events to enhance fundraising
efforts. In addition analyze special events to determine financial impact of events giving, donations and
community relations. Supervise the application for Grants for Agency Programs as well as cultivate and
recruit community support and resources for the agency. In doing so you will build and sustain donor
relations. Oversee the full utilization of the donor management database (ETapestry) ensuring that all
relevant information is appropriately tracked and reported, including donor and prospect records, prospect
research, appointment schedules, and development progress reports. In addition, utilize this database to
develop specific strategies for targeting marketing and development opportunities. Prepare realistic
estimates of resource requirements needed to accomplish objectives of Development Department and
occasionally work outside of normal working hours and on some weekends when needed.
Must have an understanding of all Catholic Social teachings. Acceptance of Pro-life philosophy a must.
