VB Thrive Mentor
Catholic Charities of Eastern Virginia is seeking a highly motivated professional for a VB-Thrive Mentor position working with adult Virginia Beach residents to achieve financial stability. The goal of this position is to engage with individuals while coaching, preparing, and encouraging them on their journey toward self-sufficiency through goal setting. The Mentor will identify strengths and problem solve around areas of challenges with participants. VB-Thrive Mentors will assist participants in setting goals related to family stability, well-being, Financial Management and employment while recognizing that barriers to self-sufficiency are multi-faceted.
This position is based out of our Princess Anne office. It is in partnership with United Way of South Hampton Roads, the City of Virginia Beach and other VB Thrive Agencies. This is a full-time position, and the Mentor must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and/or weekends to meet client’s needs, while maintaining 40 hours per week.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social services related field preferred along with a minimum of two years of experience in case management or related field. Experience in implementing motivational interviewing (preferred). Mentor will provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring with a holistic approach and assist in connecting participants to appropriate resources. Mentors will meet with each participant at least monthly. Majority of meetings will be at Participant homes or in the community (Virginia Beach City Public Library), and on a schedule that meets participant needs. Demonstrated exemplary cultural competency and ability to foster and maintain professional relationships with a diverse group of clients and fellow professionals a must.
