Aspire, a Mobility Mentoring-Informed Partnership

We connect women with trained mentors, who guide and encourage them to think big and navigate obstacles as they invest in their family’s future. Over the course of three years, aspire participants attain and identify aspirations through goal achievement and shift their lives from surviving to thriving.

Aspire addresses all areas of a person’s life holistically (family life, health, finance, education and career), while the flexible, personalized goal-setting values participants’ unique aspirations. Participants are able to earn rewards as they achieve their goals, such as cash incentives, safeguarding against barriers caused by financial hardships.

The Aspire Pilot is a collaborative funded through Women United in partnership with the United Way of South Hampton Roads and ForKids.

Strive is a 12-18 month economic stabilization program for women parenting in Southside Hampton Roads. Through intensive coaching and goal planning with a mentor, Strive will empower, coach and support women as they reach stability. Goal emphasis will be on gaining stable housing and increasing income.

Strive will provide cash incentive every three months as long as Participants are meeting their goals. Upon graduating from Strive, participants have the option to move on to the Aspire program to continue working towards their long-term goals and self-sufficiency.
